PharmaSense™
MRI of controlled release pharmaceuticals in a USP-4 dissolution cell
The development of today’s sophisticated drug therapies requires advanced drug formulations. It is important therefore to understand the mechanism of drug release behaviour, as this underpins the performance of many solid pharmaceutical dosage forms.
PharmaSense combines the current United States Pharmacopeia (USP-4) apparatus with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and is used to understand complex pharmaceutical release processes.
Traditionally the use of MRI has been limited by high cost, complex operation and restricted access. PharmaSense overcomes these limitations and provides for the first time easily accessible MRI
capability within the laboratory that does not require expert operation.
