Benchtop NMR
Benchtop NMR is now firmly established in many industries for quick and easy measurements of proton-bearing constituents such as water, oil and fat. Measurements by benchtop NMR have many advantages over traditional analytical techniques, including:
- Minimal sample preparation
- No solvents
- Easy, robust calibration
- Fast measurements
- Reliability (no moving parts)
- Ease of use
Oxford Instrumentsā benchtop NMR analyzers serve our customers across a wide range of industries, including food & agriculture, artificial fibres, polymers, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical.
Oxford Instruments has been at the forefront of benchtop NMR technology since its beginning, and now offers the widest range of instruments of any manufacturer, with three distinct models directed at the needs of different types of customers:
The MQA - the workhorse of the range, in regular use for applications including measurement of spin finish on fibres; hydrogen content of aviation fuel (ASTM D7171, replacing D3701); oil in seeds; fat in chocolate
The MARAN Ultra - designed to offer greater flexibility for the research user, offering interactive real-time control and data acquisition, large data sets, variable temperature capability, and a range of research applications including relaxation measurements, droplet size measurements, porous media studies, and diffusion measurements.
The MQC - the latest addition to the range, launched at PITTCON 2006. The MQC is designed to offer high performance with a minimal benchtop footprint, made possible by a compact new magnet and advanced digital electronics. The MQC serves applications including fat in snack foods, animal and fish feeds and milk powder, Solid Fat Content of edible oils and fats to AOCS standards, fluoride in toothpaste, and lotion on fabrics.
